Prevention of influenza disease

Influenza is a highly contagious viral disease that, according to WHO, affects up to a billion people worldwide every year.

Influenza is dangerous due to complications that develop against its background. These include bronchitis, pneumonia, otitis, sinusitis, rhinitis, myocarditis, pericarditis, meningitis, encephalitis, and neuralgia. It is the complications that lead to deaths. In addition, influenza provokes exacerbation of chronic diseases and aggravates their course.

During the "season" of flu it is recommended to wash hands and nasal mucosa regularly, ventilate the room, avoid large crowds, and systematically take vitamins. But these measures do not guarantee complete protection against infection.

Annual vaccination is the most effective way to protect against influenza. One vaccination protects throughout the epidemic season against the most common and dangerous strains. The vaccine has a positive effect on human immunity, strengthens it, and makes it work more actively and productively.

The vaccine "Vaxigrippe tetra" is produced by the French company "Sanofi Pasteur", and its composition fully complies with the recommendations of the WHO and the decision of the European Union on the composition of influenza vaccines for this season.

This vaccine provides active immunization against four strains of influenza virus (two subtypes A and two types B). It is safe for humans (inactivated) and is already in a ready-made syringe container with an attached needle.

After the vaccine is administered, antibodies are produced in the human body in 2-3 weeks and an immune response is formed (protection against the virus when the pathogen enters the human body). Immunity after the administration of the Vaxigrippe vaccine lasts from 6 to 12 months, which guarantees stable protection against influenza for the entire season of viral diseases.

The use of the Vaxigrippe vaccine is allowed for adults and children from 6 months, pregnant and lactating women, which indicates its high safety.

The COVID-19 vaccine is not an analog of the vaccine against the corresponding influenza strains and vice versa.

It is important that you can be vaccinated against influenza and coronavirus on the same day. According to the recommendations of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis, these two vaccinations can be done without interval, but in different hands.

Influenza vaccination is one of the recommended vaccinations - it is not in the National Vaccination Schedule, so the vaccine can be purchased at the expense of local budgets, enterprises, or at their own expense.

This year, free flu vaccination is provided for doctors, pregnant women, and the security sector.

Remember that a patient with influenza or other acute respiratory viral infections can infect up to 100 colleagues or passers-by in one day. Therefore, it is very important to comprehensively protect yourself and your loved ones in the face of the challenges we face every day.
